Industrial Hygiene Services

Industrial hygiene monitoring is conducted to protect employee health, address employee complaints, satisfy OSHA inquiries and to establish a baseline of the exposure.  Air contaminant monitoring usually involves a comprehensive pre-assessment, including plant tour, meetings with specific personnel to acquire necessary exposure information, and review of Material Safety Data Sheets. Full shift representative air contaminant monitoring is then conducted.

Industrial hygiene services are provided by a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) with 25 years of experience.  NIOSH and OSHA methodology and standards are closely followed.  State-of-the-art, calibrated equipment is utilized.  All analytical work is conducted by American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) accredited laboratories.

Indoor Air Quality Assessment

Office occupants frequently complain of general symptoms potentially related to indoor air quality that include headache, fatigue, upper respiratory problems, dryness and nausea.

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) assessments assist the building occupant in identifying home and building-related air quality problems and resolving issues.  An IAQ assessment generally consists of a home or building walkthrough, discussion with building occupants, review of ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and sampling of air and suspect building materials for contaminants.

Noise Monitoring

Chronic noise exposure in the workplace can lead to employee hearing loss. Operations more likely to have chronic noise exposure include printing, metal working, welding, woodworking, food processing, textiles, glass manufacturing, paper and cardboard manufacturing, and chemical processing. A noise assessment is warranted when two people standing in a work environment have difficulty carrying on a conversation. IAQ Services Inc. can conduct noise monitoring and compliance checks as well as assist in the development and implementation of a hearing conservation program.

OSHA has recently revised their hearing loss recordkeeping requirements, further emphasizing the need for companies to have an active, supported Hearing Conservation program. A Hearing Conservation program is an OSHA 1910.95 requirement whenever employee noise exposures exceed 85 A scale decibels over an 8 hour work shift. The elements of a Hearing Conservation program include:
